Goodbye, Lenin! - 2 hours

I watched the movie “Goodbye Lenin”, 2 hours long.

This was a very interesting look at German history in the recent past. When I’ve thought of Germany in the past, it’s been in the 1930’s and 40’s. I didn’t realize that there was such a profound effect on the generation that I belong to. I vaguely remember the wall falling when I was around 7 I guess, but I had no idea that the implications were so great for Germans. The story of the family was quite beautiful. The things that had to be done to survive in the political environments of the time were amazing. I don’t think that we’d be able to handle that sort of thing here in the US. Watching this movie was a cool insight to the German culture as well. Images of the night club were a bit more in-your-face than what we’re used to here. The masks were cool since we had talked about rappers wearing them. When the mom walks outside and sees the new Germany, the statue flying through the air attached to the helicopter was such a jarring image. It really made a huge point about how much change occurred in such a short span of time. Amazing.
